At Tideline Wellness, we provide counselling for individuals impacted by cultural and intergenerational trauma. You don’t need to explain away your pain or prove it’s valid. Here, your lived experience is the starting point.
What Is Cultural Trauma?
Cultural trauma often results from being harmed, excluded, or silenced because of your race, background, religion, body, or identity. For many, this harm is layered, experienced directly, passed down generationally, or felt in daily life.
This might include:
Ongoing experiences of racism, discrimination, or microaggressions
Being disconnected from your language, land, or cultural traditions
The pressure of code-switching or living between cultures
The long-term effects of colonization or forced displacement
Generational pain that still lives in your body and relationships
You may carry this trauma quietly. It might show up as anxiety, burnout, disconnection, or anger that’s hard to explain. Therapy can help you name it, feel it, and work through it in a way that’s honest and grounded.
