A Variety of Ways to Meet Your Needs

All therapy sessions can be in-person in Penticton, BC, or online through voice or video calls.

Individual Therapy - Traditional Therapeutic Counselling Session

55 or 85 minutes

Let’s dive in.

Therapy provides a safe place for you to explore avenues of growth and healing and provides helpful strategies to help you to develop into your best self.

Therapy also called psychotherapy or counselling, is the process of meeting with a therapist to facilitate change and healing. This could include resolving negative thoughts, feelings, addressing social and relational issues, and treating sensations in your body like fatigue, anxiety and depression that may be impacting your daily life.

Therapy can help you to release and heal past traumas and can be the most important step toward being the healthiest version of yourself, no matter what challenges you may be facing.

Through therapy, you can change self-destructive behaviours and habits, resolve painful feelings, improve your relationships, and more.

Walk and Talk Therapeutic Power Session

50 minutes, Penticton and surrounding area

The mind frees up when we are in motion.

It is proven that physical exercise combined with positive social interactions can improve negative moods, ward off depression, and improve self-esteem.

Perfect for a first session or a booster on your wellness journey, the Walk and Talk session is a great way to mix up your mental health routine. This 50- minute session gets us out of the clinic and into nature, into rhythmic breathing and releasing whatever needs to be released.

A more informal, and for some a more comfortable approach to traditional therapy, think of it as therapeutic stress release with a professional listener, all with an extra dose of physical wellbeing.

Trauma-Focused Counselling

55 or 85 minute sessions

You were built to rise.

Traumatized people chronically feel unsafe inside their bodies: The past is alive in the form of gnawing interior discomfort. Their bodies are constantly bombarded by visceral warning signs, and, in an attempt to control these processes, they often become expert at ignoring their gut feelings and in numbing awareness of what is played out inside. They learn to hide from their selves.” (p.97)”  ― Bessel A. van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma

When we experience trauma, the brain shuts down all nonessential systems and activates the sympathetic nervous system and the mammalian brain. To help us survive the trauma, the brain releases stress hormones and activates the flight or fight response.

Trauma is incredibly individualistic and specific to the person. A traumatic event can mean different things to different people. The trauma(s) can have occurred at any point in a person’s life. It can be multiple events or just one. Regardless of what, when or how many times, trauma is well… traumatic, and can greatly affect a person if it is not dealt with.

Trauma-Focused Counselling is rooted in the connection between the trauma experience and the emotional, behavioural and even physical responses. This type of counselling will provide a safe space to discuss past traumas, and help you to work through the impact that the traumatic experience has had on your life. Because trauma disrupts your body's natural equilibrium, healing modalities rooted in exercise and movement can help repair your nervous system. ο»Ώ

Young Adult Therapeutic Counselling

55 minutes

Setting sail on open waters.

Self-exploration and therapeutic support for mental health challenges, identity issues and improved relationships with friends and family are all goals of these sessions.

Young adulthood is a time when identity is being formed, often in the face of immense pressure and change. The mechanisms for self-love and stress reduction we develop at this stage in life can help determine lifelong success and happiness. I love to work with young people to support in times of anxiety and self-doubt, uncover unique life’s purpose, and improve self-confidence. Building a solid and trusting relationship with a therapist is vital, so I ensure these sessions are comforting, casual, and also kind of fun.

Athletic Performance Counselling

55 or 85 minutes, with the option to β€œWalk and Talk”

In these sessions, we use performance as a gateway to the intrinsic relationship between mental health and physical training, and competition. We will explore the roots of your competitive or self-competitive nature and how to manage the highs and lows of your unique way of living. You will learn new ways to mentally cope with injury, stress, and competitive anxiety and build resilience for pushing through to your next threshold.
